Raw Groove is a highly dynamic and sought after dance duo that specialize in dance education, choreography and performance. Constance Harris and Taylor Madgett formed the group in 2021 after meeting during their graduate studies in dance at the University of Colorado Boulder. After graduating they decided to team up to work on creative projects. Both specialize in Afro, House, Hip-Hop and Twerk dance styles. They have been on faculty at the Mi Chantli dance studio of Boulder, are regular contributors to the Raqs Online dance platform, and have been featured frequently as performers for some of Colorado’s most lively dance festivals (CRAFt, Freeform, and Viva Brazil!) and parties (Scatta Afrobeats, Love Language and HYPE!). Most recently they produced Raw Groove: Life of the Party, a show in the Denver Fringe Festival and received the Fringe Festival’s award for Community Activation through the Arts.

Raw Groove Presents… is a live performance and party series bringing together Denver’s most vibrant artists, dancers, DJs and musicians. This event, hosted by up and coming Denver based fusion dance collective Raw Groove, celebrates the creativity, resilience, and power of art from the Black Diaspora, offering an unforgettable experience where music, dance, history, and togetherness converge.
Rooted in the nightlife traditions of the Black Diaspora, Raw Groove Presents… invites you to join a journey that honors the lineage of timeless steps and rhythms through a reimagined lens. Each evening promises a curated lineup of live music, DJ sets, mesmerizing performances, line dancing, and a party—all set to soundtracks ranging from Funk to House to Afrobeats, designed to connect you more deeply with the soul of each music and dance genre we spotlight.
Raw Groove Presents… aims to foster spaces where BIPOC artists not only perform but thrive in environments that respect fair wages, value creative input, and embrace artistic daring. This series also serves as a gathering space where diverse communities come together in celebration of history, spirit and catharsis.

TENETS an evening length dance show!
TENETS is Raw Groove’s movement manifesto, a full-bodied expression of the principles that guide our creative practice.
Drawing from the fusion of Black diasporic dance forms such as Afrobeats, Hip Hop, House, and beyond, this work explores how movement holds memory. Each rhythm, each gesture, is part of a lineage: passed down, reshaped, and reimagined. These are our tenets. The foundations we return to. The structures we spring from.
This dance theatre production reflects our process of learning, honoring, and evolving. We study the roots and experiment by intertwining tradition with new patterns that excite and inspire. The result is something alive, layered, and future leaning.
TENETS blends choreography with live music, spoken word, and comedy to create a rhythmically rich experience. It is a celebration of movement as philosophy, memory, and imagination.
